Fall Updates

IDSVA is back from summer residencies in Tuscany, Berlin, Paris, and Brown University. High spots included:

  • Peggy Phelan’s new essay on Andy Warhol, delivered to 1st year students at Spannocchia Castle
  • Franz Ackermann hosting 2nd year students at his studio in Berlin
  • Sylvère Lotringer’s stunning lecture on Deleuze  for 1st & 2nd year students in Paris
  • and Paul Armstrong, former dean of Brown, introducing his new methods course for 3rd year students at Brown


Looking ahead, we are proud to announce IDSVA’s inaugural commencement:

  • Degrees will be conferred January 12, 2013, The Morgan Library and Museum, Madison Avenue, New York
  • Commencement speakers include Nobel Laureate Eric Kandel, author of The Age of Insight; and poet Susan Stewart, Director of Princeton’s Society of Fellows and author of The Open Studio: Essays on Art and Aesthetics and The Poet’s Freedom: A Notebook on Making
