Through the Mirror: Utopia Reconsidered
by Mary Anne Davis, 3rd year IDSVA student
Leonie Bradbury (cohort ’11) asked me to participate in an exhibition titled Wish You Were There? at the Montserrat College of Art Gallery in Beverly, MA, where she is the curator/director. The show includes artists whose work reflects thinking about utopian and/or dystopian futures. Since utopia has been the topic of some of my writing, it seemed a good fit. The gallery is generously sized and five other artists have work included. Leonie’s idea is to consider utopia and dystopia, elements readily present in much of our readings and also in multiple practices.
