George Smith is an internationally recognized scholar and has long been a leader and innovator in American education. In 2006 Dr. Smith founded the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts. IDSVA is the first and only school in the world to offer a PhD in philosophy for visual artists, curators and creative scholars.
Executive Vice President & CFO
Amy Curtis has been working in the administration of IDSVA since its founding in 2006. Prior to that, she worked as a fashion designer. She ran her own custom design studio for seven years, designing and producing couture wedding dresses.
Director of School & Vice President for Academic Affairs
Simonetta Moro is a visual artist and theorist, with a focus on painting, drawing and mapping practices. She has broad teaching experience, and her work has been exhibited and published internationally. Dr. Moro was born in Italy, and currently lives in New York City.

Christopher Yates received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Boston College in 2011. Yates joined IDSVA in 2014 as a member of the core faculty and staff. He is currently working on a research project that explores the question of meaning in the artistic image, and is contributing to an interdisciplinary project concerning the significance of the arts and architecture for urban revitalization. He lives in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Molly Davis recently moved back to her home state of Maine, after six years in New York City. In NYC, she worked for numerous art galleries and non-profit organizations. Molly has her BA in Studio Art from Gettysburg College and a Master's in Arts and Cultural Management from Pratt Institute.
