The IDSVA PhD in Visual Arts: Philosophy, Aesthetics, and Art Theory is a research-based, low-residency PhD for creative thinkers. As a true nomadic institution, IDSVA is a school without walls: a community that exists everywhere our students and faculty are and gathers in person in various parts of the world. During the three-year course of study, students alternate between online semesters and intensive residencies in Rome, Spannocchia Castle (Tuscany), Siena, Venice, Berlin, Athens, Madrid, Marrakech, Mexico City, and New York City.
“IDSVA’s blend of online and in-person residencies has taken me on a captivating journey around the world.” - Rikiesha Metzger, PhD 2023
